James Burke
Managing Director, Co-Head of InfraBridge
James Burke is Managing Director and Co-Head of InfraBridge. Mr. Burke is based in London and focuses on European investments and opportunities. He is an accomplished infrastructure investor with over 12 years of sector experience.
Previously, Mr. Burke was a Director at Alinda Capital Partners, one of the largest infrastructure investment firms operating in North America and Europe with a focus on telecom, energy, transportation, and contracted infrastructure assets. Prior to Alinda, Mr. Burke began his career in London as an M&A Analyst in the Global Infrastructure Group at Citigroup.
Mr. Burke received a bachelor’s degree and a Master of Arts Degree in Chinese Studies from Cambridge University.
Sadiq Malik
Managing Director, Co-Head of InfraBridge
Sadiq Malik is Managing Director and Co-Head of InfraBridge. Mr. Malik is a seasoned investment professional with over 20 years of in-depth investing experience in private, distressed and public companies across a variety of industries including the digital infrastructure verticals of towers, data centers, fiber and ground lease buyouts. At DigitalBridge, Mr. Malik is responsible for identifying, evaluating, consummating, and managing investments across all our verticals globally with a specific focus on the Americas and the MEA regions.
Previously, Mr. Malik was a co-founding partner of Oskie Capital, a public and private equity firm, which invested in companies undergoing positive business transformations and corporate change. Previously, he also worked on President Obama’s Auto Task Force at the U.S. Department of the Treasury during the financial crisis in 2009.
Earlier in his career Mr. Malik was an investment professional at Och-Ziff Capital, The Blackstone Group and Morgan Stanley.
Mr. Malik received a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, in Economics from Dartmouth College and an MBA, with distinction, from Harvard Business School.
Nikki Smart
Managing Director
Nikki Smart is a Partner and Managing Director at InfraBridge. Ms. Smart joined InfraBridge in June 2018 in its Infrastructure Equity Asset Management team based in London. Ms. Smart is responsible for leading the human capital agenda across the platform, which includes C-suite recruitment and leadership assessments, senior executive compensation, talent management, executive coaching and board development, organisational design and business transformation.
Before joining InfraBridge, Ms. Smart was an independent HR Consultant providing strategic HR interventions for a variety of Private Equity backed companies. Ms. Smart worked at National Grid for 14 years and was part of the Global HR Leadership team. Ms. Smart held several senior leadership roles, including Head of HR for National Grid’s UK Business, covering an employee base of 10,000 managers and staff. Her most recent role within National Grid was Global Head of Talent, Leadership and Change, where she was responsible for Board, CEO and Executive Committee leadership and talent development.
Ms. Smart started her career in the Oil and Gas industry as a Graduate Trainee at BG Group. She holds a first-class honours Sports Science and Business Studies degree and a Counselling and Psychotherapy Diploma.
Graeme Ferguson
Head of Airports -Europe
Graeme Ferguson is Head of Airports - Europe at InfraBridge, serving as operating executive in the asset management team.
Before joining InfraBridge, Mr. Ferguson was the Corporate Development Director for the Manchester Airports Group (MAG), responsible for setting the corporate growth strategy and identifying and developing growth opportunities in targeted market segments worldwide.
Mr. Ferguson previously served as Project Director of bid teams for PPP airport projects in both Asia and Europe, overseeing the end-to-end evaluation process including, strategy, due diligence, and business plan development.
Trained as a solicitor, Mr. Ferguson was an associate in the Projects, Transport and Infrastructure Group of Allen & Overy LLP, where he worked on a number of project finance initiatives across a broad spectrum of infrastructure sectors and general banking.
In 2014, Mr. Ferguson was awarded the Business in the Community Sieff Award, in partnership with Marks & Spencer, which recognised the next generation of business leadership with a commitment to improving the positive impact of businesses on society through corporate social responsibility.
Mr. Ferguson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Modern European History from the University of Warwick, a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Nottingham Law School, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the University of Law.
Nicole Izzo
Principal
Nicole Izzo is a Principal in the InfraBridge investment management team, based in the New York office. She focuses on evaluation and execution of infrastructure acquisition opportunities and asset management of current investments. She is an investor with over 10 years of real estate and infrastructure experience.
Prior to joining InfraBridge, Ms. Izzo was a Vice President on the acquisitions team at Macquarie Asset Management, where she evaluated and executed transportation, supply chain, and social infrastructure opportunities on behalf of the Macquarie Infrastructure Partners fund series. She also served as the asset manager for investments in Maher Terminals and NYNJ Link (Goethals Bridge Concession). Prior to Macquarie, Ms. Izzo worked in the investment banking division at Goldman Sachs, where she advised real estate, gaming and lodging companies on strategic and capital markets transactions.
Ms. Izzo holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Wharton School.
Christina Sgardeli
Principal
Christina Sgardeli is a Principal in the InfraBridge investment team and is responsible for the origination, execution, and management of infrastructure investments across transport & logistics, energy transition, and digital infrastructure sectors. She currently sits on the board of and manages InfraBridge's investment in TIP.
Ms. Sgardeli joined InfraBridge after 6 years at Arcus Infrastructure Partners where she focused on digital infrastructure origination, execution, and asset management, with an additional focus on transport infrastructure. Ms. Sgardeli spent 1.5 years as a key executive at an early-stage technology VC fund and 1.5 years in a senior role at a listed metals processing manufacturing group.
Ms. Sgardeli started her career at Morgan Stanley’s Structured and Project Finance group in London and New York and holds an engineering degree from MIT and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Alastair Small
Principal
Alastair Small is a Principal in the InfraBridge investment management team, responsible for the identification, evaluation, execution and management of new and existing infrastructure investments. He is an investor with over 13 years of infrastructure experience.
Mr. Small joined the infrastructure equity team of InfraBridge in 2016 and has extensive experience across the diversified infrastructure space, including digital, energy transition, transportation and healthcare services. Mr. Small started his career at KPMG’s Corporate Finance team in London before being seconded to Tokyo.
Mr. Small holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Nottingham and is a Chartered Accountant (ICAEW).
Christian Velasco
Principal
Christian Velasco is a Principal in the InfraBridge investment management team based in our New York office and focused on evaluating, executing, and managing new and existing investments across the mobility, energy transition and digital infrastructure sectors.
Mr. Velasco was a member of the infrastructure equity value-add team of InfraBridge since early 2018, where he led the acquisition and financing of major transactions globally.
Prior to joining InfraBridge, Mr. Velasco held several roles as a finance executive and advisor in Latin America where he had a pivotal role in acquiring, financing, and developing large scale infrastructure assets in the region.
Mr. Velasco started his career as a Central Banker at the Peruvian Central Bank and received his Bachelor of Science in Economics and Finance from Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas and a Masters in Infrastructure Investment & Finance from University College London.
Liam Stewart
Executive Advisor
Liam Stewart is an Executive Advisor to InfraBridge. Mr. Stewart also serves as Chief Operating Officer at DigitalBridge Group. Previously, Mr. Stewart was the Chief Financial Officer of Macquarie Infrastructure Corporation. He has approximately 15 years of experience in acquiring, operating and financing infrastructure assets in the U.S., Australia, and Asia.
Prior to joining Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets in 2014, Mr. Stewart was a Senior Vice President and Management Partner at Global Tower Partners (GTP), where he had responsibility for all capital markets initiatives and led over a dozen domestic and international financings for GTP. He was also responsible for all treasury, capital markets and strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, investor relations and reporting initiatives at GTP. Prior to joining GTP in 2009, Mr. Stewart was employed by the Macquarie Group where he had day to day responsibility for a listed Macquarie affiliate’s North American media and telecommunications investments.
Mr. Stewart has an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales. He is also admitted to practice as a solicitor in the state of New South Wales.
Jeff Ginsberg
Executive Advisor
Jeff Ginsberg is an Executive Advisor to InfraBridge. Mr. Ginsberg also serves as Chief Administrative Officer, Chairperson of ESG Committee at DigitalBridge Investment Management. Mr. Ginsberg has more than 30 years of entrepreneurial and executive experience in the telecom infrastructure and services, real estate, and private equity sectors.
Prior to joining DigitalBridge, Mr. Ginsberg was a Managing Director and Operating Partner of Mistral Equity Partners, a consumer-focused private equity fund.
Before joining Mistral in 2008, Mr. Ginsberg was Executive Chairman of InfoHighway Communications, a telecommunications services provider, and CEO/co-founder of its predecessor entity Eureka Broadband.
Prior to co-founding Eureka, Mr. Ginsberg was co-founder and Executive Chairman of Apex Site Management, which grew from its inception in 1995 to become the largest third-party manager of wireless and wireline sites in the U.S. at the time of its sale to SpectraSite in January 2000. Mr. Ginsberg was also the co-founder of Horizon Cellular Group, which grew from a start-up in 1991 (in partnership with McCaw Cellular) to become one of the largest cellular system operators in the country prior to the sale of the business.
Mr. Ginsberg received a Bachelor of Science, cum laude, in Finance and Accounting from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Thomas Mayrhofer
Executive Advisor
Thomas Mayrhofer is an Executive Advisor to InfraBridge. Mr. Mayrhofer also serves as the Chief Financial Officer at DigitalBridge. Mr. Mayrhofer brings more than two decades of robust financial and operational experience across the asset management industry.
Prior to joining DigitalBridge, Mr. Mayrhofer served as CFO and, subsequently, Chief Operating Officer at alternative asset manager EJF Capital, where he was responsible for the firm’s financial, operational, technology, and legal functions.
Prior to EJF Capital, Mr. Mayrhofer spent nearly 18 years at The Carlyle Group in a variety of financial roles across all of the firm's products—including private equity, energy, real estate and credit. He concluded his tenure at Carlyle as a Partner and CFO of the firm’s Private Equity business, where he led a team of more than 90 finance professionals and had oversight of approximately $100 billion of assets under management.
Mr. Mayrhofer graduated from The College of William & Mary with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting.
Ahmed Memon
Senior Advisor
Ahmed Memon is a Senior Advisor at InfraBridge. Mr. Memon is responsible for overseeing asset management activities for Opal Healthcare and APAC on behalf of InfraBridge. He also represents InfraBridge on the Opal Healthcare Board, Investment & Sustainability Committee, and Audit & Risk Committee.
Mr. Memon has 20 years of experience in advising and principal investing in the infrastructure and energy sectors across various jurisdictions.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Memon worked at InfraBridge between 2016 and 2023, where he was primarily responsible for originating opportunities in Ireland and managing assets in the Irish Infrastructure Fund. In 2023, he led and successfully realized the sale of the Fund's assets, delivering strong returns for its investors. Before joining InfraBridge, Mr. Memon held positions at Rubicon Capital Advisors, Deloitte Corporate Finance, ESB Energy International, and KPMG.
Mr. Memon holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Applications from Dublin City University and is a qualified chartered accountant (FCA).
Justin Symonds
Senior Advisor
Justin Symonds is a Senior Advisor at Infrabridge. Mr. Symonds has over 30 years of experience in investment management, investment banking, and strategic advisory with corporate, financial, and government clients in the transport and infrastructure sector. Mr. Symonds has advised on a wide range of M&A, capital raising, and strategic projects for airports, airlines, bus, rail, shipping, and logistics companies.
Previously, Mr. Symonds held roles as an investment manager and advisor, contributing to numerous high-profile projects within the transport and infrastructure industry. He currently serves as a Non-Executive Director on the Boards of London Luton Airport and Newcastle Airport.
Mr. Symonds holds a Master’s degree in Air Transport Management from Cranfield University and an Honours degree in Modern History from Oxford University. He is also a qualified pilot.
Marietta Moshiashvili
Senior Advisor
Marietta Moshiashvili is a Senior Advisor to InfraBridge, assisting with the firm's portfolio investments.
Prior to joining InfraBridge, Ms. Moshiashvili served as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner of Upper Bay, an independently-owned private investment firm focused primarily on diversified North American infrastructure private equity investments in the middle market. She was a President of Tidewater Transportation & Terminals institutional board, and on Infiniti Energy board. Prior to co-founding the firm, Ms. Moshiashvili was a Managing Director and the Group Head of Nuveen’s global direct equity infrastructure platform. She has a fully attributable and strong track record from TIAA/Nuveen.
Prior to becoming Managing Director and the Group Head of Infrastructure at Nuveen, Ms. Moshiashvili held a variety of senior positions within Nuveen Private Markets in infrastructure, private equity, and project finance. These included being the Portfolio Manager for direct infrastructure equity, Portfolio Manager of energy and infrastructure co-investments, and, prior to that, an officer with involvement in direct infrastructure debt investments that grew to $ 8.8 billion portfolio. In her capacity, she set the investment strategy. Furthermore, Ms. Moshiashvili oversaw investments, composition of the portfolio, and expansion in new geographies and subsectors, with a goal of maximizing returns and diversification. Ms. Moshiashvili has held a number of active board positions for the infrastructure portfolio’s companies, including I-595, ACS JV, Mersey Bridge, EPP Landfill Gas platform, and Vantage, was a President of the board of InterPark, and was also an investment committee member of Stonepeak Infrastructure Fund I. She steered the Nuveen team towards a differentiated investment sourcing strategy, by identifying market leaders in desirable portfolio sectors, and led the establishment of the Nuveen third party asset management business.
Before joining Nuveen in 1997, Ms. Moshiashvili was a project finance investment professional at Credit Suisse and The Toronto- Dominion Bank. Ms. Moshiashvili holds a Bachelor of Science in International Business and Economics, cum laude, from New York University Stern’s Business School and is a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon.
Simon Ellis
Senior Advisor
Simon Ellis is a Senior Advisor at InfraBridge, providing advice and asset management support for a number of assets within the portfolio.
Mr. Ellis has almost 30 years of finance and infrastructure market experience, leading transaction teams in the infrastructure sector in either principal investing, debt, or government advisory capacity.
Prior to his current advisory role, Mr. Ellis served as Partner, Head of Americas for AMP Capital and Global head of Origination for Infrastructure Equity. Previously, he was Chief Investment Officer of ING Infrastructure Funds in London, where he led the fund's investment strategy and origination activities, and held senior positions in the infrastructure teams at WestLB, HVB and Lloyds TSB. Earlier in his career, he spent 15 months on secondment to the NHS Private Finance Unit, advising the government on the first NHS hospital PFI schemes and contributing to the development of the first standardised PFI contract in the UK. Mr. Ellis has invested in debt and equity instruments in approximately 50 closed infrastructure transactions across the transport, utilities, renewables, telecommunications, health, power, and social infrastructure investments.
Mr. Ellis holds a first-class Bachelor of Arts honours degree in English from Bangor University and a postgraduate ACIB qualification.
